PlayStation is the official gaming partner of the UEFA Champions League, and had been a sponsor for over 20 years.

While Football fans will happily lap up anything that will make their Football experience better, they don’t typically give a shit about the corporate sponsors and just see their advertising during matches as wallpaper. The strategy was to cement PlayStation’s leadership in Football gaming by creating an idea that would live beyond just match-day idents and perimeter boards.

The idea behind PS F.C. was that, across ALL platforms (PS4, PS3, Vita, PSP, etc.), more people played Football games (all FIFA versions and all PES versions) on PlayStation than on any other platform. As such, PS F.C. is the world’s biggest club – and football was therefore better on PlayStation.
